We have learned from experience that cultural activities have an extremely positive influence on students’ intellectual involvement in the acquisition of a foreign language. It is for this reason that we recommend taking part in everything the city has to offer:
Bacardi Rum Factory: The original Bacardi factory is located on Avenida Jesús Mendez, opposite the new train station. The factory was founded in 1838 by the Bacardi family, and after the revolution the company moved to Puerto Rico.
The House of Diego Velazquez: Considered Cuba’s most ancient colonial building, today the house has a strong Moorish influence with richly decorated carved wood ceilings.
Downtown Santiago: In this part of town, you find Céspedes Park. It is a nice place to sit, relax, and mingle with the people; especially when there is live music from the Hotel Casa Grande.
